Hamas praised the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) for suspending its participation in PLO legislative committee meetings, calling the decision “wise”.
Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a press release on Monday that the Front’s position came in light of the “dangerous slope in which Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas] has slipped in his negotiations with the enemy.”
Barhoum called on all Palestinian PLO factions to make the same decision, in an effort to disrupt the current peace talks.
“Abbas has taken meetings, decisions, and recommendations of the organization’s Fatah-dominated institutions as a cover for passing destructive and absurd policies that have posed the greatest threat to the rights of the Palestinian people,” Barhoum said.
The Hamas spokesman called on all Palestinian powers and factions to oppose all forms of negotiations with Israel and to pressure Abbas into an immediate withdrawal from direct talks.
